NATIONAL Superannuation Fund (Nasfund) chief executive officer Ian Tarutia has acknowledged employers who comply with the Superannuation General Provision Act and maintain their timely contributions.
He told the 2021 employer awards night last Thursday that employers continued to comply despite the difficult economic environment of 2021.
Ok Tedi Mining Ltd, Hargy Oil Palms Ltd, and the National Agriculture Research Institute were the winners of the Nasfund Employer Awards 2021.
“Much like 2020, 2021 was a very difficult year for businesses, with many having to adapt their operations to ensure that workers continued to remain employed,” Tarutia said.
He said many employers not only maintained their superannuation contributions in a timely manner, but included new employees.
“We want to acknowledge the efforts by employers. It reflects a good governance culture, a respect for their workers and a respect for the law protecting workers in times of unemployment or to enjoy a dignified retirement,” he said.
