COFFEE growers at Embehe Yamuto village in Upper Asaro, Eastern Highlands, have been urged to take advantage of savings products offered by financial institutions.

Nasfund Goroka branch officer-in-charge Bren Kure said the market opportunity was big for informal sector. He said it constituted people like coffee growers who were mostly self-employed, to open savings accounts for the long term.

Kure was invited to speak during the launch of Anengu Coffee Rehabilitation project in the village recently and to educate coffee growers about savings products that were offered by the super fund.

Kure told more than 1400 people when promoting the Eda Supa savings account that would enable self-reliant individuals to do voluntary contributions to be captured in the superannuation savings for their retirement.

Nasfund members, who joined this account, will be able to access benefits of retirement savings that is experienced by more than 175,000 active members.
