THREE aircrafts from Air Niugini’s fleet will be engraved with the 2015 Pacific Games logo as part of the promotion for next year’s sporting extravaganza in Port Moresby.
Newly confirmed Air Niugini Board chairman Sir Fred Reiher said the 2015 Pacific Games was a momentous regional event that will coincide with Papua New Guinea’s 40th anniversary, and the national airline was proud to be associated with it.
The popular yellow lagatoi with red, green, black and blue colours, capturing the spirit of the games and PNG, is visible on Air Niugini’s two Boeing 737 and Fokker 100 aircrafts.
Sir Fred said Air Niugini has one and half years to promote the Pacific Games and PNG to the rest of the world.
The three aircrafts operate routes that include Australia, Asia and the Pacific so the mileage gained would be quite significant ahead of the July 4 to 18, 2015 games.
Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko thanked Sir Fred and chief executive officer Simon Foo and his management for promoting the Pacific Games and Papua New Guinea on the international stage.
“We want to leave a lasting impression and also show other countries that we mean business,” he said.
Minister for State and Public Enterprise Ben Micah endorsed the mutual partnership between Air Niugini and the Pacific Games Organising Committee.
