National Club C’ships revived to expose talent

THE revived National Club Championships will be played in each region and will kick off next week in the Highlands, says Papua New Guinea Football Association competition manager Simon Koima.
He urged all member associations to prepare as the tournament dates and venues had been set.
“All club nominations and registration with a participation fee of K500 per team must be submitted to PNGFA,” Koima said.
“It’s compulsory for all member associations and associate members to endorse a club for both men and women, who were the minor premiers in their league in 2018, to participate in the championships.”
He said the revival would allow players to be exposed to a higher level of football.
The dates and the venues of the championships are as follows:

  • Highlands – June 26-29 at the National Sports Institute, Goroka;
  • New Guinea Islands – June 27 to 30 at the PNGFA Academy, Kimbe;
  • Momase – July 3-7 at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium and LFA Park, Lae.
  • Southern – (Dates to be announced) Papua New Guinea Institute of Public Administration Oval.
