A PAPUA New Guinea Football Association executive committee member for the Southern region has called on the PNG Sports Foundation and the National Sports Trust Limited to speed up the processes of handing over fields back to the respective sports at Bisini Sports Complex.

Simon Koima backed the call by Port Moresby Soccer Association president John Wesley Gonjuan in yesterday’s paper.

Gonjuan said that his association was in a dilemma because there was no  of field for it to run its competition.

Koima said that the Port Moresby Soccer Association was the biggest in the country and must attend the Southern regional leg of the Besta Cup, to be played in Kiunga from August 20-24.

“Smaller associations in the region and in the country look up to Port Moresby as big brother,” Koima said.

“They look forward to challenging the city association on the field of play.”

He made the final call yesterday urging teams wishing to participate to pay in their participation fee of K500 (per team) and player registration fee of K3 (per player).

The monies are to be paid into the Nawone Football Association cheque account, #1012130744, BSP, Kiunga branch.

He said seven centres, including Port Moresby, have indicated their interest to take part in men’s competition, while five women’s teams will attend the championships .

He reiterated that non-attendance of Port Moresby in Kiunga’s Besta Cup will greatly affect them as an association and the association stands the risk of losing its voting rights during the elective annual general meeting next year.

Teams wishing to participate in the Sourthern tournament should contact Koima on 323 2591 or 7627 3296.

Meanwhile, the national association will be conducting a club licencing workshop for the National Soccer League 2015-2016 season.

“We are now calling on all current franchise owners and interested franchise owners to register your attendance by calling 323 2591 or 7627 3296,” Koima said.

The workshop will be held in Port Moresby at 10am on Aug 12. The closure of registration of attendance is on Monday, Aug 10.
