National library offering activities

The National Library is conducting school programmes in the National Capital District as part of its National Book Week celebrations.
It is annual event for the Education Department. This year the National Library has taken the initiative to conduct school visits, library tours and storytelling sessions for schools in NCD.
Book week chairperson Mary Warus said the programme was for schools of all levels, including day care centres.
She said such programmes were important because reading was an integral part of children’s development, especially during early childhood education.
The National Book Week High School Quiz has being moved to next month to allow for more schools to prepare and participate.
