Nawaeb MP calls for proper proposals
The National, Tuesday 1st of April, 2014
NAWAEB MP Gisuwat Siniwin has called on the people to stop following him around with letters and proposals.
He made this call at the opening of a new Nawaeb electoral office at Boana station last Friday.
The duplex houses the MP’s office, Morobe Governor’s office, conference room and transit rooms. It was built after people complained that Siniwin and his officers did not have any office in the district to serve them.
The office was built at a cost of K50,000 and will serve more than 60,000 people in the district.
“The Nawaeb MP’s office is no longer in a five-door or 10-seater vehicle,” Siniwin said.
“Don’t go to Kasin village and look for me or in some hotel in Lae. Don’t give me letters and proposals on the streets to sign. Come to the office and see me.”
Siniwin said the previous electoral office was rented in the Malahang Industrial Centre for between K3,000 and K5,000 per month by the former administration.
Siniwin warned the people to come with individual requests but as a group needing impact projects.
“Any project that we will approve will follow the district’s five-year development plan,” he said.
Siniwin urged the district treasurer, administrator and other public servants to work with him in serving the people.
District administrator Bob Bugilam said the district was slowly transforming.
“Don’t follow the MP around in hotels. It is not good,” Bugilam said.
“Now that the office is here, all our work should be done here.”
The electoral office is fully equipped with telephones, computers, faxes, printers and internet access.
A website for the district will be launched next month.
