NAWAEB district in Morobe will set aside 10 per cent of its district services improvement programme funding to help youths.
Local MP Kennedy Wenge revealed that on Saturday when giving K6000 to six youth groups engaged in cleaning up part of the Nabak local level government area.
The groups from Posi, Busu Mountain, Poam, Gobadic Junction and Musamo received K1000 each.
“Ten per cent of all funding should be allocated to youths,” Wenge said.
“They should not be marginalised but encouraged to be part of the development process.
“I believe that youths can excel in whatever they do if given adequate funding and resources.
“As a MP I would like to see youths given 10 per cent of funding by all levels of government.”
Wenge urged youths in his district not to be involved in unlawful activities.
He challenged them to work hard and earn an honest living.
Wenge said Nawaeb would focus on youth development programmes to ensure unfortunate young people were provided opportunities in life.
