NCD beat B’ville in thriller

FAMILY ties were not severed yesterday when Apia Muri led NCD to a gold medal victory over cousin Dia Muri’s Bougainville team.
Apia scored 13 points – against Dia’s 14 points – but that was enough to add to the final score line of 72-60.
Greg Travertz and Soi Benny also contributed to NCD’s win in a close court challenge before a packed Vunapope outdoor court.
Bougainville came through after overcoming an aggressive Western Highlands 58-36 earlier in the morning.
In the bronze medal play-off, Morobe edged out Western Highlands 80-73 in another close encounter.
