NCD enjoys break in peace

CHRISTMAS celebrations in Port Moresby has been peaceful – thanks to an increase in police visibility.
The police operation called Lukautim Krismas Hamamas 2011 na 2012 had made sure residents celebrated Christmas peacefully in their homes.
Assistant Police Commissioner Fred Sheekiot commended the people for showing restraint in the recent political crisis and urged the people to maintain the same spirit throughout the festive season.
Sheekiot warned that police operations would continue and those thinking of engaging in illegal activities would face the full force of the law.
“People of NCD and Central should move around and attend to their daily businesses freely.
“I assure investors and business houses to ope­rate as usual because police will enforce the law and the festive season will be trouble-free,” Sheekiot said.
“Our people of Motu-Koitabu, Kairuku-Hiri, Rigo, Abau and Goilala are peace-loving people and the festive season is a time for singing hymns and caring for one ano­ther and celebrate in a true spirit,” he said.
