THE annual National Capital District Governor’s Christmas Cup is set to start on Dec 21 at the Kone Tigers Oval in Waigani.
The Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League committee is expected to run the tournament. League chairman Bosky Koke, who is also the Governor’s Christmas Cup tournament director, said registration was open to interested teams.
Koke said he would only accept 32 teams for this year’s tournament.
He said 10 teams would come from Moresby South, 10 from Moresby North-East and 12 from Moresby North-West. Koke said he was giving all the electorates a chance to compete in the tournament.
“The tournament is open to Digicel Cup players and PNG Hunters players who wish to maintain their fitness during the festive season,” he said.
“Since NCD Governor Powes Parkop has given us the green light to run the tournament, we are happy to announce that there will be an increase in the prize money from last year.”
