THE National Capital District Commission hosted its second annual staff games to help build a healthy workforce in the organisation.
Sports and recreational manager Kila Dick said the purpose of the Games, which the commission’s four department’s competed in, was to promote teamwork.
“We want to interact with other workmates,” he said.
“Team work is important. When you play in a team sport, you see a lot of players contributing towards winning the game.
“So it’s all about teamwork because we want to see good results.
“When you have a healthy work staff, you will see a lot of positives. They will contribute effectively, their mindset is right, their thought process is good and so they can work long hours of the day. So will translate to good progress in the city.”
The departments – community and social services, special functions, waste management and regulatory services – took part in volleyball, netball, soccer and touch at Bava Park.
The commission sponsored trophies for the best team, player and individual performance.
The day-long event was attended by the families and friends of the staff members. Dick said the Games should remind people of the importance of togetherness and family leading up to the festive season.
“I want to wish everyone a happy Merry Christmas and remind everyone of the importance of fellowshipping with our families because it is the time when Jesus Christ was born,” he said.
“Young ones should at least visit the elderly back at home.”
