NCD lacks good peace, order committee
The National, Thursday July 24th, 2014
THE National Capital District is the only province that does not have a good and peace order committee, the deputy chairman for NCD law and order committee says.
Jack Waso said if a good and peace order committee was set up in NCD, many social problems in the city would be be avoided.
He suggested the city authority, under the leadership of Governor Powes Parkop (pictured) , set up a committee like the rest of the provinces, which had social and community issues solved quickly.
“Take for example, ethnic clashes in the Highlands where tribes are about to go to war over a death or land issue.
“In this scenario, peace and good order committees are the front-liners to bring the situation under control and restore peace and normalcy.”
He pointed out that ethnic clashes were common in the city and to handle them, city authorities should have a committee in place.
