NCD nines tourney to start season

STAGING the Super 9’s competition and taking part in the PNG Games are among top priorities for the National Capital District Suburban Rugby League competition this year.

President Billy Aki yesterday said the 2014 season will kick off with 9-a-side competition. The season proper is scheduled to start on March 14.

The Nines competition will kick off on March 6-7 at Kone Tigers Oval.

He called on any interested teams to register for the tournament.

Aki said there will be 12 men and six women team taking part in the Nines rugby league challenge.

The association has made llowance for the return of Waliya and Fraki’s new team, Aweva Brothers.

Registration fee is K500 per team. The teams can pay in an installment of K250 to play in the nines. 

Teams that took part last year are encouraged to nominate for the 2014 season.
