REGULAR police patrols around Port Moresby will be on-going to regain the confidence of the people in the constabulary, says Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’Dranou.
N’Dranou said during an evening patrol on Friday around the city that regular city patrols would make people more aware of what police were doing about keeping the city safe.
“Police patrols are not new but I want to make it regular, especially after hours so we keep an eye on people travelling back home from work and school,” he said.
“This is to ensure places like bus stops are free from petty crimes and that people arrive home safely.”
N’Dranou said police visibility was important in such public areas to assure the people that the officers were doing their duties and would make such places safe.
“Not only will we be out in the main streets, but also we will conducting patrols in neighborhoods to watch over people and to ensure their safety is guaranteed,” N’Dranou said.
