NCDC clears club after renovation

THE National Capital District Commission health authority on Friday cleared an entertainment club in Port Moresby’s Downtown to resume operation after a list of maintenance work in the building recommended was done to its satisfaction.
The nightclub on the ground floor was closed indefinitely when serious health issues were detected on Feb 20.
The pokies parlour on the first floor, run by the same company, was still in operation.
A team of environmental health officers were invited by POM VIP Club to do an inspection after renovation work had been completed.
An investigation into the club last week found that the male and female sanitary facilities had wet floors.
The ground floor also suffered from poor ventilation and inadequate lighting.
Abraham Keple served the clearance notice on the club manager Liu Xiaoxu.
He commended the club management for complying with the authority’s order.
He called on other entertainment, shop and fast-food firms owners to uphold public health standards to avoid shut downs.
