THE National Capital District Commission has again for another year donated money to the Institute of Business Studies school debate competition.

The NCDC has given its biggest donation so far for the IBS school debates competition with a cheque for K50,000 cheque presented by Governor Powes Parkop to institute chairman Mick Nades at the 6-Mile campus last Friday.

Parkop said the commission was doing the right thing and had always supported the debates since the inception of the competition four years ago.

“Since the beginning of the initiative NCDC has sponsored the event but this year is the biggest donation,” he said.

“It is a good platform for the students to do research and showcase their potential for debate and this complements the Department of Education as a tool for improvement of research.”

Nades welcomed the continued support, saying the competition would expand in the years to come.

“From the beginning the governor has put his money where his mouth is and provided continued support,” he said.

“This year we have 11 provinces participating and we expect to see all 22 provinces taking part.

“Next we are looking at having debates with countries in Oceania like Fiji, Solomon Islands, Australia and New Zealand,” Nades said
