NCDC instals portable toilets for Pacific Games
The National, Monday July 13th, 2015
TWENTY-five portable toilets have being made available around the city by the National City District Commission health division for use during the Pacific Games.
Isoa Morea, the NCDC chief health officer, said the portable toilets were bought for K350,000.
“I am encouraging the general public to make use of the temporary toilets located at the designated park and ride venues and at Ela Beach,” Morea said.
Eight are placed at Jack Pidik Park, six at Unagi Oval, four at the park and ride venues and two at Ela Beach.
Morea said the NCDC had engaged a private contractor to maintain the portable toilets. “This is some of our health measures we are putting in place to create a healthy environment for our visitors and the public during the two weeks,” he said.
“Our division has been engaged in doing health awareness campaigns not only at the designated informal stall area at 5-Mile but around the city as well.”
The NCDC health authorities are raising awareness on Tuberculosis, giving tips of cleanliness in preparing food and the distribution of condoms to prevent sexually-transmitted diseases.
“There is a NCDC help desk at Jack Pidik Park,” Morea said.
