NCDC showcases programme at meet

THE National Capital District Commission’s Active City Development Programme (ACDP) was showcased at the 2019 Women Deliver Conference.
This is the world’s largest platform on gender equality, health, rights and wellbeing of women and girls, attended by more than 8,000 participants from 165 countries and streamed live to more than 100,000 participants across six continents.
The conference was officiated by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and attended by presidents, prime ministers, Nobel laureates, social commentators, activists and progressive leaders selected from across the globe.
The ACDP was one of those selected to be part of the event.
It was a proud moment for Papua New Guinea and Port Moresby, in particular, when NCDC’s Active City Development initiatives were featured at the conference in Vancouver, Canada.
ACDP’s director Fazilah Bazari spoke at a side event of the conference, showcasing the work being done in Port Moresby, highlighting NCDC’s efforts in tackling social issues affecting women and girls in PNG.
She spoke about the concept and success of the ACDP initiatives like the Walk and Yoga for Life initiative started in 2014 which had clocked in more than 250 Sunday walks.
