The National Capital District Commission (NCDC) is warning Port Moresby store operators without licence of harsh consequences.
The warning came after NCDC senior licensing officer Tom Kamtai issued a notice to an illegal trade store in Port Moresby.
Kamtai said: “We have had enough of this. There are too many illegal trade stores in the city.
“Many do not have proper NCDC trading licences for liquor and trade and need to apply through the NCDC physical planning board to get approval.”
The commission advised trade store owners to obtain proper
|licences before operating in the city.
NCDC is making a effort to clean Boroko and 4-Mile areas of betel nut vending, consumption and spittle to prepare for Apec and, more particularly, to create a clean, safe and healthy city. Such action by the licensing department is seen as part of the operation.
“Beware of being caught,” Kamtai said.
He said other clean-up operations were taking place like the removal of unwanted debris from public places.
