CITY Hall is working to have the faulty traffic lights on Waigani Drive fixed, according to acting Port Moresby city manager Kenneth Atasoa.
He assured residents the faulty traffic lights at Holiday Inn, Boroko Motors and the City Hall intersections were being given all the attention required to be fixed.
“We apologise for the faulty lights and the trouble that everyone has gone through over the past days but I assure everyone that we will fix the problem as soon as possible,” he said.
He said the cause of the faulty lights had been identified as a defective electronic system and National Capital District Commission contractors were bringing the parts from overseas to repair the lights.
“Unfortunately the required parts are overseas and will take a while before they arrive.
“But please be assured that arrangements are in place to have the parts shipped in as quickly as possible to fix up the problem,” Atasoa said.
He called on the travelling public to bear with the commission and to take extra care when travelling through the affected intersections.
“I appeal for understanding, co-operation and caution on this occasion,” Atasoa said.
