MOROBE Governor Ginson Saonu on Saturday described late Morobe police commander Chief Supt Alex N’Drasal as a hard worker and a committed officer who wanted to see policing reach new heights in Morobe.
“The Northern command has lost one of its best officers who went to lengths to see that the people of Morobe were served thoroughly from all corners of the province,” Saonu said.
He said Supt N’Drasal was a credit to his family and province who served the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) in all his capacities, especially, to the people of Morobe.
“When Supt N’Drasal was assigned to serve in Morobe, he served with distinction, making sure the people of Morobe were served well,” Saonu said.
He said the recruitment of 500 police reservists in Morobe was N’Drasal’s idea to increase manpower and make police presence felt around the province.
Deputy Commissioner Police (DCP) for administration, Joanne Clarkson, described Supt N’Drasal as a role model for young policemen and women.
“He was one senior officer in the RPNGC that truly served with dignity and upheld the rule of law and his command and control was effective and strong,” DCP Clarkson said.
Chief Supt N’Drasal died on Wed, Dec 16, 2020 at Angau General Hospital after clocking 27 years with the force since joining as a cadet officer in Rabaul in 1994.
Assistant Commissioner of Police northern command Peter Guinness described N’Drasal’s death as a great loss for the constabulary.
“Late Chief Supt Alex N’Drasal was a hardworking person who did his job with perfection and was an outstanding and senior member of this command,” ACP Guinness said.
He said the late PPC was a committed man who had empathy, was intelligent, dependable and “a very organised person” who served in the New Guinea Islands, Eastern Highlands and Morobe as police commander before his death.
