THE National Executive Council will hold its meeting in Goroka, Eastern Highlands today, coinciding with the prime minister’s People’s National Congress national convention.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill announced the decision to hundreds who came to welcome him at Goroka’s National Park yesterday afternoon.
Most of the 22 national politicians backing O’Neill arrived ahead in a chartered Air Niugini Q400 aircraft.
They were met at the airport by Eastern Highlands Governor Malcolm Kela-Smith, former MPs and prominent leaders including Grand Chief Sir Akepa Miakwe and Sir Akapite Wamiri.
The prime minister arrived about 30 minutes later and was taken to the national park.
O’Neill and the PNC delegation later moved to the Mark Solon Auditorium at the University of Goroka for the registration of participants for the convention.
