THE National Executive Council (NEC) has suspended Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade secretary Barbara Age pending an investigation, Prime Minister James Marape says.
In response to questions relating to the suspension, he told The National that it was related to some work issues and he would get more details today.
NEC has appointed Elias Wohengu as acting secretary.
Wohengu was appointed to take charge of the department pending investigation into charges laid against Age.
Public Service Commission determined that there was a prima facie evidence that warranted suspension and investigation.
Department of Personnel Management secretary Taies Sansan confirmed the suspension, adding that it was an NEC decision.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade is without a minister after Aitape-Lumi MP Patrick Pruaitch resigned from cabinet last week.

  • Bring back Rimbink Pato as Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was our country’s best FM since independence.

  • Then make it a norm that all including Ministers or MPs must also be suspended if under investigation!!

  • Because of that Patrick Pruaitch resigned as minister and there is no other minister to handle foreign and affairs so can PMJM change new minister

  • Yes Hon Rimbin Pato need to be part of Government as Psalk Valley which is Part of his Electorate
getting a Rural Power supply as well as the Road upgrading/sealing which the current Government
is in progress of developing it to completion before 2022 Gen Elections. He has got only 18 more months to go and need to thing about his people rather than doing politics which definitely he will not achieve it during the VON.
