ACTING Correctional Services Commissioner Bernard Nepo has called on the 64 escapees from Buimo to surrender to police or return to the CS institutions to avoid losing their lives.

“My appeal to them is return to the nearest police station or to the institutions.

“You’ll end up losing your lives or you’ll continue living like a wild animal in the bush and you will not settle well with your families,” he said.

Nepo also appealed to the families of the escapees to report them.

“Jointly with the police, we’ll try to bring them back.

“The relatives and the public should try to establish where the escapees are and try to bring them back because these are lawbreakers and they are not required at the various locations that they are in now.

“The society is fed up, so we need to work together to bring them back,” he said.

Twelve escapees were shot dead moments after the mass break-out last Thursday from Buimo. Eighteen were recaptured and are still in critical condition.

Sixty-four are still at large.

A report is expected this week following an investigation that convened at the weekend, led by Deputy CS Commissioner (Northern Region) Joe Jako.
