YOUNG, talented netballers of West New Britain have been battling it out on the court over the last month to secure places in the provincial squad to Alotau this month for the national championships.

Hopefuls emerged from the local level government areas of Hoskins, Talasea, Kimbe Urban and Mosa to prove their worth to selectors.

The games in the Under-21,  U17 and U13 categories were played at the netball courts at Mosa.

The games were closely fought affairs, proving that everyone who competed was aiming to impress.

West New Britain Netball Association president Barbara Nuabi applauded the display.

“Netball is rising to the next level in our province, which bodes for well its future,” Nuabi said.

She thanked netballers who had worked hard in promoting the sport in the province, adding that this kind of effort empowered women.

Present at the games was the WNB Women Empowering Women president Lillian Holland and patron Nancy Brock, who applauded the games.

Holland encouraged the players to develop their talent and have the confidence to have a go.
