New board directors for Kumul Petroleum

PAUL Nerau and Hari Karyuliarto have been appointed directors of the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd (KPHL) board.
KPHL chairman Dr Benedict Yaru said the appointments were made on July 12 after a rigorous process, in accordance with the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Authorisation Act 2015.
Dr Yaru thanked the Kumul Petroleum Trustee and Prime Minister James Marape “for the timely appointments”.
“The appointments come at a critical time when the Government and Kumul Petroleum prepare for the advent of major projects including the Papua LNG, P’nyang and the offshore Pasca A,” he said.
“We are confident (Nerau and Karyuliarto) bring exceptional value to the board and the business of Kumul Petroleum, with their calibre, individual achievements, experiences and expertise.”
Nerau and Karyuliarto were sworn in by Magistrate Billy Pidu in Port Moresby.
KPHL managing director Wapu Sonk welcomed the appointments which “come at a crucial time when the Government and Kumul Petroleum are negotiating in large projects, among other critical matters such as reforms, in the legislative and policy space”.
“The board has been, and continues to be, very supportive and remains pivotal to the success of Kumul Petroleum’s participation in these major economic projects as the State’s nominee.”
Nerau, from Bakaukaku in Buin, Bougainville, has more than 40 years of experience working in the petroleum sector, mining sector, manufacturing industry and commercial business.
Karyuliarto, from Indonesia, has more than 23 years of experience with the LNG business.
He will advise the board on various areas of the oil and gas industry bringing with him many years of National Oil Company experience from Pertamina, Indonesia.
