PEOPLE in Rigo, Central, will receive proper health care treatment once the new hospital in Kwikila is completed, district health coordinator Jimmy Ravao says.
Ravao said for the past 15 years, the Kwikila health centre was only treating outpatients and referring serious cases to the Port Moresby General Hospital.
A total of K14 million was raised from the Rigo district service improvement programme and Korean government to build a new hospital.
The health was demolished in 2012 and work on the new hospital.
“The hospital will provide outpatient and inpatient ward facilities plus maternal and child health, dental care, family planning and voluntary counseling testing centers and laboratory and pharmacy,” he said.
He said the new hospital would serve villages in the district and expand to neighbouring villages.
The facility will also be used to train local health workers and doctors with four doctors from Korea attached at the hospital.
The outpatient building will be completed in two weeks.
