New church building a dream come true for villagers

Catholics of White Karanas in Ialibu, Southern Highlands, celebrated the opening of their new church building at Amburungi village.
The St Padrepio Catholic Church was a dream come true for the people who celebrated with a big feast.
Bishop Donald Lippert, of Mendi Diocese, said the church was where people came together with God. He thanked the people for their contributions and asked them to do away with their old ways.
“We have a part to play to bring in souls that do not know Jesus,” Lippert said.
Local businessman Tony Konda, who contributed a lot, said it was a dream come true to have the church building completed.
He said what was invested would bring in many returns.
Konda said people needed to change their lives to see what God had done for them.
“This church is for the people of Kepiki to benefit from and strengthen their faith in God,” he said.
“We need to come to realise that God is the source of everything. What we need in life all comes from him. We need to start giving back to God for what he has been giving and blessing us.”
Konda said the church could also help to address law and order problems.
He donated a set of musical instruments to the church.
