POST PNG has developed the shop-concept-approach as a way of reaching its customers and is now opening up more postal services at the shopping centres and malls.

This is among a number of avenues that the company is venturing in to help generate income and bring the much needed revenue.

Chairman Reuben Aila, commenting on the status of Post PNG now with the national government’s support to sustain its operations, said the funding puts the company in a great position to grow.

Aila said: “As you know people do not post letters any more so we’re going in to shop concept approaches with more postal services being established in the shops to meet our customer needs and at the same time bring in revenue.

“Rather than you rushing during work hours to check your postal box or post your letters you can do that after hours, we have looked at growth opportunity in our assets,” he said.

The state this week injected K40million into Post PNG to bail it out of its financial situation.

“We were challenged by our shareholders to sail the sinking ship out of its dilemma and we’ve done some changes quietly.

“Any asset if it returns a revenue, it becomes an asset,” Aila said.

He said another area that Post PNG plans to expand on to bring its revenue was the freight and logistics.

“As a small SOE with close collaboration with all sister state owned enterprise we work together to create a strong hold to negotiate.

“As a result, we have commenced the Boroko Post Haus rehabilitation with assistance from Eda Ranu.

“We’ve branded Post PNG in Lae, that’s where are strengths are leveraging on our sister companies to grow, we cannot do it along with our shareholders support.

“Today’s milestone puts Post PNG in a great place to start paying dividend challenged by the shareholders.

“Be rest assured there will be dividends coming.
