New desks for Porgera Valley schools

 SCHOOLS in the Porgera Valley fof Enga have received a total of 200 new desks from the Porgera Development Authority (PDA) last week.

School that received the desks were Porgera High School, Tipinini Elementary, Anjakale Elementary, Yarik Primary School, Porgera International School and Mungulep Primary.

This was part of the PDA ongoing commitment to support education in the valley.

The desks, which cost more than K50,000 desks, were distributed to the schools at the Porgera High School and was witnessed by teachers, students, and parents.

PDA general manager Andrade Lagos said the desks were purchased from a joinery shop in Mt Hagen and transported to Porgera. 

Lagos decided to purchase the desks after seeing that many students were sitting on the floor, adding that learning materials were very important for a child to learn.

Apart from the desks donated to schools Lagos also made a commitment to build new basketball and volleyball courts for the Porgera High School.

District education adviser Mathew Mark thanked PDA saying it as blessing to the schools.
