A NEW financial skills programme will be rolled out throughout the National Capital District to provide basic financial literacy for those interested in small business activities.

This was made possible after a deal was signed between the Ginigoada Bisnis Development Foundation and CPL Group in Port Moresby yesterday.

Ginigoada Bisnis Development Foundation chairman David Conn said CPL had assisted with K100, 000 for the roll out of the programme for the whole year.

This is the third mobile adult education programme that Ginigoada has established in Port Moresby and will run for two weeks at each location.

It also connects to the two existing programmes delivering teaching and training on financial skills at a level that will help everyone regardless of prior education level.

Its two main components are to deliver training on basic financial literacy and a one-week course on how to run a community enterprise group (CEG). This covers the setting up and managing a CEG, and will include a workshop on  microfinance.

CPL Group chief executive Ravi Singh said the programme was  important as it gave local communities opportunities to understand the basic concepts in business.

No fee will be charged to attend to programme and it is open to anyone interested in starting a new small business, or strengthening an existing small business.
