THE 22 Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE) Centres around PNG will now have access to digital communication.
This follows the issuing of Telikom Vodafone tablet to the 22 provincial FODE coordinators during their technical in-service in Port Moresby on Monday.
FODE national principal Anthony Rayappan said they had issues with communication and thanked Telikom PNG for the partnership.
“We have had issues with getting students statistics and data from the provincial FODE centres,” he said.
“With this initiative, this won’t be a problem anymore.
“They (coordinators) can now write emails and send documents to our main office here in Port Moresby.”
Rayappan said the coordinators would now communicate directly with the FODE headquarters in Port Moresby.
The provincial FODE coordinators would have access to free calls all year on bmobile, 100 minutes for other network calls and 1.25 gigabytes of monthly data.
Rayappan said sharing of information was crucial, adding that they would have access to video conferencing which would make it easier for them to communicate instead of spending money and resource to host conferences.
Meanwhile, he revealed that FODE would develop a website this year.
