NEW judge Robert Lee Lindsay says he is humbled at his appointment given that it is not easy to reach such a high office.

Lindsay, who was sworn in as the country’s permanent 36th judge at Government House yesterday, said he was willing to serve the people.

Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia said Lindsay’s appointment marked a significant reinforcement of the judiciary’s position in terms of service delivery.

Lindsay took his oath of loyalty to the Constitution and declaration office before Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio.

The ceremony was witnessed by Sir Salamo, deputy chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika, Justice Allen David, families and friends.

Lindsay, from Goodenough in Milne Bay, was appointed by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission to serve as judge in the National and Supreme courts for 10 years.

He graduated from the University of PNG law school in 2000 and was admitted to the bar in 2001.

He has practised law for over 14 years, mostly in the private sector.

Upon admission, he was employed with Gadens law firm before starting his own practice in February 2015. At the time of his appointment, he was the principal of his law firm, Rlindsay and Associates.

Lindsay will serve as a resident judge in Mt Hagen.
