WOMEN vendors in Moresby South and Moresby North East will have new facilities to do their business when a K2 million market is completed in August.
Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko and National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop officiated at a ground-breaking ceremony for the Kipo Market yesterday.
“This market is something you mothers want so look after it,” Parkop said.
Phoenix Building Limited will build it.
Tkatchenko said the market was not only for the Moresby
South women but also for those from Moresby North-East and Kipo.
The proposal for a proper market was made to Tkatcheno by the women in Kipo during the general election.
It will have toilets, water tanks, electricity and a rubbish section which will be cleared daily by a contractor.
There will be three sections which can accommodate 300 vendors.
Tkatchenko and the board will manage the market. Men in Moresby North-East and Moresby South will be selected to provide security.
“This market will benefit the shops here as well, you and your family,” he said.
Tkatchenko warned the people to change their attitude about littering, especially betel nut rubbish and spittle.
