New lawyer for Newcrest

 NEWCREST Mining Ltd’s appointment of Francesca Lee as general counsel and company secretary will be effective at the end of March.

According to a statement, Lee has been general counsel and company secretary with Melbourne-based gold and copper miner OZ Minerals Ltd, and its antecedent companies since October 2003.

She has more than 26 years’ experience working within the mining industry – including at BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Comalco – across various legal and commercial roles.

She also spent several years as vice president structured finance with Citibank’s Melbourne office.

Lee is also a member of the Australian Takeovers Panel.

Managing director and chief executive Greg Robinson welcomed Lee’s appointment.

“We are delighted that Francesca is joining the senior executive team at Newcrest. Her skills and experience will enable her to make a substantial contribution to Newcrest’s legal and governance processes.”
