THE PNG Women in Business (PNGWiB) group now has a new office space to serve its members and serve its national headquarters.
The office is located on the first floor of the Able Computing Building, Waigani Drive, Port Moresby.
PNGWiB president Janet Sape said the office would serve the needs of the grassroots’ women who wanted to enter into business ventures.
“I want to let the grassroots’ women aspiring in business to know they have an office. The official opening will take place next month,” she said.
Sape said women were missing out on two fundamental areas compared to men: economic development and politics.
She said PNGWiB was about helping women in rural areas to have easy access to financial services.
Sape said she recently went on a tour of East and West Sepik where there was overwhelming interest from the women to venture into business activities.
She said of the K10 million allocated to the organisation by the government last year, K5 million was used to establish infrastructure for the microfinance project and set up office space.
Sape said PNGWiB had submitted its acquittals to the Department of National Planning and Prime Minister’s Office.
“I have used the money for the intended purposes and I am grateful,” she said.
Sape also commended North Fly MP Boka Kondra for supporting women in his electorate by committing K200,000 to the women’s group there.
She challenged other MPs to do the same for women in their electorates to enable them to go into small businesses.
