POPONDETTA Rugby League (PRL) match officials will look smarter in their new uniform – courtesy of Dunlop PNG.
Dunlop PNG Popondetta branch manager, Jeffrey Mea said his company was happy to give something back to the community in a small way and the uniforms would boost the morale of up-and-coming rugby league officials.
“On behalf of the directors of the company, the management and the staff of Dunlop PNG Popondetta, I wish the Popondetta rugby league association all best for 2013 season,” Mea said.
PRL games committee member Ali Kosky received the uniforms on behalf of the match officials.
Kosky thanked the Dunlop branch for the help, saying rugby league in the province had been dormant for the past 10 years and such sponsorship would motivate association to riun the competition transparently and successfully.
PRL executives have appealed to other local business houses to sponsor clubs for the league for 2013 season.
Oro Governor Gary Juffa has put in K5,000 for the pre-season nines competition, with the grand final this Sunday.
PRL president, Anko Vamage acknowledged cosponsor, Christian Bookshop manager, former Kumul Roy Heni, for two trophies to be presented to the grand final teams.
The uniforms will be used in the Popondetta rugby league nines grand final this weekend at Siroga oval.
