New payroll system launched

THE Education Department’s new payroll system, called Alesco, was launched in Madang last Friday.
Acting First Assistant Secretary Etwin Apai, on behalf of the Acting Secretary Dr Michael Tapo, said Madang’s division of education was the 10th provincial office to introduce the system.
Present were officers of the Madang divison of education, head teachers, teachers, officers of the Department of Education Mamose regional office, financial institutions such as Teachers Savings and Loan Society Ltd, Nambawan Super and other guests from the Madang provincial administration.
Apai said the salary section of the Madang division of education would be able to have access to more than 2,000 teachers’ salaries and input authorised deductions from the teachers’ salaries.
Similarly, new teachers who will start work in Madang schools in 2014 will be included in the system.
Apai acknowledged the support AusAID had provided for the system .
