New people named to look after MPs’ salary

NEW members of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) were sworn into office by Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae at Government House on Friday.
The commission looks after and determines work terms and conditions of MPs and constitutional office holders.
The new members are Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat (chairman), deputy speaker Jeffrey Komal (speaker’s nominee), Minister for Public Services Elias Kapavore (prime minister’s representative), shadow treasury minister and Kavieng MP Ian Ling-Stuckey (Opposition representative), Justice Stephen Kassman (representative of the chief justice), Ravu Vagi (Department of Personnel Management representative), Department of Labour and Industrial Relations Secretary Mary Morola (Department of Labour and Industrial Relations representative), George Taunakekei (Department of Labour and Industrial Relations representative), Simon Pentanu (Bougainville executives representative) and Fidelis Semoso (Bougainville executives representative).
Members who are already in place are Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia and Department of Personnel Management Secretary John Kali.
