New permanent bridge to ease travelling woes

TRAVELLING has now been made easier with a permanent bridge at Ivule, in Central Nakanai, West New Britain.
Provincial administrator Williamson Hosea said with the oil palm development in the area, the government had built roads and bridges regular heavy flooding had taken their toll on the infrastructure.
Hosea said the building of a permanent bridge should assist economic development, especially in the oil palm industry.
Governor Sasindran Muthuvel said the Works Department had spent more than K30 million in the past 25 years to fix the wooden bridge after floods.
He has been assured by the Treasurer about counterpart funding on 12 permanent bridges along the Bialla highway and the Hoskins runway extension.
The Asian Development Bank has already put out tenders for the 12 bridges, Contracts are expected to be awarded before the end of the year.
The new bridge, opened by Deputy Governor Lawrence Mango, would make travelling easier for people doing business in Kimbe and Bialla.
