SUPERINTENDENT Michael Welly has been appointed the new Northern police commander.
Commissioner Gari Baki confirmed that Welly, who was the Hela commander, had been directed to start in his new province.
Welly said he had started work on Tuesday.
“Mr Gerari has just been released from the hospital after one of his legs was amputated (as he was a diabetic),” he said.
Meanwhile, Baki said some reshuffling of senior officers was made by Acting Commissioner Jim Andrews when he was on compassionate leave.
He said if those officers had issues about that reshuffle, they should follow the appropriate processes to raise their disagreement.
“For them, to take up the new posts appointed depends also on the availability of accommodation and for them to finalise necessary needs for their families but at this point in time most available options would be for the officers to move on their own first before they organise for their families,” Baki said.
