THE policy for improving service delivery in rural health systems and phasing out the aid post system was launched at the Gateway hotel in Port Moresby yesterday.

Deputy Secretary National Health Service Standards Dr Paison Dakulala said the Community Health Post (CHP) policy was set to phase out the aid post system in an effort to improve service delivery to rural areas.

“The revised health referral model for PNG in Vision 2050 states that CHP will eventually replace aid posts as the facility for rural areas in the health system,” he said.

“For this to happen the PNG National Health Plan 2011-2020 calls for CHP to be progressively established in strategic locations.”

Dakulala said the CPH was a policy that would respond to the deteriorating health indicators in the nation.
