NEW Jiwaka police commander Gideon Kauke hopes to enhance his force’s policing functions to address law and order issues in the province.
Kauke, a former PPC for Southern Highlands, will take up his new post tomorrow and said his first priority would be to address in-house matters.
Kauke replaces former PPC Kauga Maragil who passed away last month.
“I will be officially taking up the post on Wednesday and will meet with the station commanders from Banz, Minj and Nondugul as well as the Kudjip highway patrol commander, officers from the criminal investigation division, prosecutors, traffic officers and others,” Kauke said.
“The first thing will be to restore our functions and address issues in order to be a more effective law enforcers in the province.”
Kauke said that he was looking forward to working with the team in Jiwaka but added that he would not tolerate ill-discipline in the force.
He said Jiwaka police would do more awareness in the communities to build positive relationship with the people.
“People’s attitudes need to change so we can work together to provide a more effective service.”
