A NEW high school established this year on Umboi Island in Tewai-Siassi, Morobe, needs financial support to manage its operations, the school’s headmaster says.
Bunsil High School started this year with 50 grade nine students.
Headmaster Friel Biwa called on the provincial administration and the education board to ensure the funding was available for the school.
“The school is currently not qualified for the national government’s tuition fee-free funding because it is not yet registered,” Biwa said.
Education adviser Keith Jiram said the school was approved by the Education Department and was waiting its registration code number and position number for the teachers.
“It is a long process but once it is done, the high school will receive TFF and also the teachers will be on pay roll,” Jiram said.
