A NEWLY established high school in Kagua-Erave in Southern Highlands will receive K500,000 from the provincial government to build a science laboratory and a library.
Governor William Powi made the commitment following the school administration’s request to build the two facilities that would enhance the knowledge of students.
Powi said this to teachers and parents at Aiya Robesi High School in the Aiya local level government.
“Whatever funding my administration gives must be properly managed and used for the intended purpose so that our students have access to improved school facilities,” he said.
Powi said schools needed key infrastructure such as science laboratories and libraries to support and enhance learning and his government was committed to building them.
He said he was impressed with the school management for using the funding to make significant improvements to the school and urged other schools in the province to do the same when allocated funding.
School chairman John Yano said more than 400 students, mostly from the district, enrolled at Aiya Robesi and with some from Imbonggu as well. He said students from the new school had been missing out on science and library lessons and the funding would be used to put up those facilities.
