New science lab for Warangoi

Education

WARANGOI Secondary School in the Sinivit local level government (LLG) of Pomio in East New Britain (ENB) will now have a new science laboratory building.
Students, teachers and the public witnessed the official commissioning of the new four-in-one double building which will accommodate the science laboratory last Thursday.
Pomio MP Elias Kapavore when commissioning the building said education was one of the priority sectors in his district and they had plans to improve and upgrade all schools from elementary to secondary schools as well as technical vocational education training (Tvet) schools in the district.
“We want to upgrade and improve all the infrastructure and facilities in all our schools,” Kapavore said.
He said the total cost for the science laboratory building was K1.25million.
Kapavore said the building was jointly funded by ENB Government (K500,000) and Pomio (K750,000) through the provicial service improvement programme (PSIP) and district service improvement programme (DSIP) funds.
He said such infrastructure was important to enhance learning and urged the students to take ownership and look after it.
Apart from the commissioning, there were also signing of memorandum of agreements (MoAs) between Pomio DDA and various development partners.
An MoA was signed with Tzen Niugini for a road rehabilitation programme from the Intake power house junction to Rieit and the Upper Illugi bridge and for Tol High School infrastructure.
