Bank South Pacific customers can now purchase airline tickets using their smartphones.
This followed the launching of a new platform between the bank and Air Niugini in Port Moresby yesterday.
BSP deputy general manager for Retail Sales and Customer Services, Kili Tambua said the application was a one click service that would help customers save time and effort.
“The upgraded BSP mobile payment system is now fast and enables the customers to book and pay using their smartphones in a one click service,” he said.
The bank’s head of marketing and public relations, Gorethy Semi said: “This will make it easy for all the customers both in the rural and the urban areas.
“It’s not a new initiative, it is actually one that was there before but we have enhanced it using our mobile banking platform.”
Air Niugini’s managing director Alan Milne said that the launch of the platform was one of the many initiatives that the national flag carrier undertook to give its customers a better buying experience.
“Under our High Altitudes Programme, our number four pillar is about our customers and what we can do for them,” he said.
“Along with partners such as BSP, initiatives like this is an opportunity to make the buying experience for our customers so much easier and better.
“It enables them to use the technology on their mobile phones and that is the way of the future.”
BSP digital implementation lead officer Doriga Ove explained that: “Customers can use their booking reference number and go to the BSP mobile banking platform and select the ticket option to pay for their ticket.”
