HAMAKA Primary School in Yabim Mape local government area in Finschhafen, Morobe, have opened two staff houses which will address their staff accommodation shortage issue at the school.
The two houses were funded by the Morobe government under incumbent Governor, Ginson Saonu.
Saonu, who opened the two staff houses on Tuesday (June 28), said the buildings were funded at a cost of K100,000.
He told the parents, guardians, staff and students of the school that the government had done its part and they must be good custodians of such infrastructure.
“Teachers must be under a good shelter and teach our children properly so we can send more of our Mape students out,” he said.
“We are doing this so our children’s future can be better.
“What we are doing is for the next generation.
“We will die and go. “
We must look after this for our next generation.”
The school usually catered for students of Habhondong, Mahajaing and Kaningo in the Mape area.
Head teacher Raymond Ronuc thanked the governor and the Morobe government for their help and said Saonu was the first governor to set foot and help the school.
“You have removed a burden on me and my board,” he said.
Meanwhile, Saonu said the split of Yabim Mape and Burum Kuat LLGs in Finschhafen and Umi Atzera in Markham would take effect during the ward councillors and LLG president elections.
He said this would pave way for services to be channelled properly to the people.
