ANOTHER Australian firm has entered PNG to take part in the development of the PNG LNG project.
Several Australians were already actively involved in the construction phase, and more were expected to join to provide services to the US$15 billion enterprise that will extract gas from the Southern Highlands province and then pump it along a 700km pipeline across the Gulf province and into the liquefaction processing plant at NapaNapa outside Port Moresby.
The latest entrant from Australia in the big game in PNG is Longevity Commitment Reliability (LCR), which has set up a PNG company called LCR PNG.
Last week, LCR joined forces with a local trucking company Trans Wonder Land (TWL) to service the heavy equipment industry and the LNG project.
LCR and TWL signed a joint venture partnership agreement to be partners in the movement of versatile mobile crane fleets and heavy equipment machinery.
LCR group chief executive officer Col Partington said the agreement would create job opportunities in PNG.
“We are not here for a short-term stay like two years but rather we are in for the long term stay like 20 years. We bring training and development with tools and skills as a private company,” he said.
“LCR PNG will work closely with TWL to ensure its customers are given the best service in the heavy equipment industry.”
Partington said LCR PNG, which was established in 2009, was now uickly becoming a well-respected and well-known company operating with local people and businesses.
He said it was easier and much closer to come to PNG than to travel to Perth and he was “extremely happy” to bring about not only services but most importantly training and development to the locals.
TWL managing director Larry Andagali thanked LCR PNG for having confidence in his company.
“As an established trucking company in PNG, TWL is openly welcoming the agreement signed with LCR PNG.
“It is a an agreement we are looking forward to work closely with LCR PNG to give the much needed services to the country in particular the liquefied natural gas project,” Andagali said.
